Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is an approach to the faith formation of children ages 3 to 6. St. Bridget of Kildare School & PSR program will use Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for ages 3-6 (Level I) in Fall 2024, in addition to offering CGS for one more session on Sunday mornings for children who are not yet enrolled in the day school or PSR.
The focus of the program is to deepen the child’s existing relationship with God; to encourage the formation of a personal prayer life; to participate fully in the liturgical & sacramental life of the Church; & to develop a deeper understanding of Catholic identity & tradition. CGS is rooted in the educational principles of Maria Montessori. It was founded by Sofia Cavalletti & Gianna Gobbi in Rome & has spread to almost every continent. You can watch an informative video from EWTN here, which gives an overview of the CGS program. And you may also watch a short tour of the St. Bridget Atrium here.
There will be an additional CGS session offered to all 3-6 year old children on Sunday mornings immediately following the 9:15am Holy Mass at St. Bridget too. You can register here for that session. Space is limited, so register quickly!
